Business Development

Small businesses all over the city are ready to grow and hire, and need support from local elected officials. Seaside saw a large downfall in small business INCOME due to covid-19 and a lack of engagement from city officials. As council member, alexis is committed to establishing strong communication between minority owned businesses and ensuring all businesses receive accurate and real time information in both english and spanish. Alexis also believes that starting a business in seaside should be a smooth process with guidance from the city. Language should not be a barrier when deciding to open a business, that's why alexis is committed to providing bilingual support, partnering with local non-profits to host 101 forums for potential business owners, and pushing council to streamline unnecessary licensing to make it less costly to start a small business.

Education

alexis believes that every child, no matter what his or her background is, or what zip code they reside in, they should be guaranteed a high-quality education. That’s why alexis is committed to ensuring all children in seaside reach their highest potential and are offered valuable resources that will ensure academic success, because when we invest in education and recreational programs, we invest in safer communities and a stronger economy for all. 

Climate Change 

Alexis as a clean energy advocate believes that seaside CANNOT AFFORD TO GO BACKWARDS ON THIS ISSUE, Seaside CANNOT DENY OUR ECONOMY AND THE BENEFITS OF HARNESSING A CLEAN ENERGY FUTURE. CLEAN ENERGY ENSURES OUR CHILDREN DO NOT ENDURE THE CATASTROPHE THAT WOULD RESULT FROM UNCHECKED CLIMATE CHANGE. AS COUNCIL MEMBER ALEXIS WILL FIND WAYS TO IMPLEMENT LEADING POLICIES THAT WILL SET SEASIDE AS AN EXAMPLE FOR NEIGHBORING CITIES.

Mental health

Seaside residents and their families need our support and that’s why as council member,  alexis will find ways to increase public awareness and will ensure that council scales up funding for programs that can be implemented in our communities for our youth. Alexis will also work to partner with community members and organizations to identify and support our youth throughout the city.

Housing

with a high percentage of seaside residents paying more than half of their income in rent, fear and uncertainty continues to weigh heavily on hard working families. too many residents are in distress, with unemployment at an all time high and a pandemic cutting entire neighborhoods off from opportunities and progress. alexis believes that seaside needs housing policies that connects low income seaside families to economic opportunity and revitalizes our economic potential. 

Community diversity 

Seaside is a city with a rich melting pot of cultures. As councilman, alexis vows to stay true to our fundamental American values: that we are a nation of immigrants, and we treat those who come to our country with dignity and respect. Alexis believes that as a city we must embrace immigrants, end the divisive rhetoric and ensure we move together as one. Alexis will also find ways to bring culture into the city and together, as one, learn from one another.
